This comprehensive itinerary is designed to guide you through an exciting journey filled with remarkable destinations and captivating experiences in Kuusamo.
Arrive at Kuusamo Airport and transfer to your accommodation in Kuusamo or Ruka village (approximately 30 minutes). Settle in and experience your first taste of Lapland with a traditional Finnish sauna followed by a dip in an ice hole or snow roll. Enjoy dinner featuring local specialties like reindeer, salmon, and cloudberries. If visiting in winter, take an evening walk to spot the Northern Lights.
Explore the breathtaking Oulanka National Park, one of Finland’s most beautiful wilderness areas. In summer, hike portions of the famous Karhunkierros Trail (The Bear’s Ring), visiting stunning viewpoints, suspension bridges, and the powerful Kiutaköngäs Rapids. In winter, snowshoe through silent snow-covered forests. Look for wildlife including reindeer, elk, and various bird species. Experience the pristine Arctic nature at its finest.
