Arrive at Ouarzazate Airport and travel to your hotel or kasbah accommodation (approximately 10-15 minutes). After settling in, explore Ouarzazate town with its wide boulevards and desert atmosphere. Visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, a sprawling fortified residence once belonging to the powerful Glaoui family, featuring decorated rooms, narrow passages, and panoramic rooftop views. Watch the sunset over the desert landscape with the snow-capped Atlas Mountains as backdrop. Enjoy traditional Moroccan dinner at your accommodation.
Take a morning excursion to Ait Benhaddou, the stunning UNESCO World Heritage fortified village (ksar) appearing in countless films including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. Climb through the ancient earthen clay architecture with its towers, narrow alleys, and decorative details to reach the hilltop granary for spectacular valley views. Return to Ouarzazate to tour Atlas Film Studios, Africa’s largest film studio, exploring props, sets, and Egyptian, Roman, and medieval recreations from famous productions.
Embark on a scenic day trip through the spectacular Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley. Drive through the lush Skoura Palmery oasis dotted with kasbahs including the beautiful Kasbah Amridil. Continue to the dramatic Dades Gorges featuring towering rock formations in shades of red, orange, and pink. Walk through the impressive canyon, visit Berber villages clinging to cliffsides, and enjoy traditional lunch with valley views. Photograph the distinctive rock formations known as “monkey fingers” before returning to Ouarzazate.
